Safe Eyes is Fast....but how fast?
Many safety devices, such as home security systems or safety belts, impact our lives every day and are there to protect us in a moment of need. We accept the small delays these devices add to our lives because of the protection they offer.
The same is true of the protection Safe Eyes offers. The 1/3 of a second that Safe Eyes adds to web page downloads cannot even be detected by the human eye, making the small delay it adds worth the protection it provides.
Safe Eyes is Effective....and we can prove it!
Safe Eyes is partnered with N2H2 to provide the highest quality filtering possible. The N2H2 website database has been proven time after time to be the most accurate database available. (In recent tests, both the U.S. Department of Justice and the Kaiser Family Foundation found N2H2 to be the best.)
No need to download updates!
In the past, Internet control software had to be updated daily or weekly to remain effective, much the same way that virus scanners are today. Safe Eyes is a new breed of Internet control software that does not require updates. When you install Safe Eyes it is tied to our server-side engine that ensures that you are always using them most up-to-date information available.
You choose what content to ban!
Safe Eyes gives you complete control over what material you wish to ban with 35 different categories of websites to choose from. You can even setup a separate filtering profile for each member of your family!
Safe Eyes is Affordable...have your cake and eat it too!
Safe Eyes is priced in such a way that you really do get more than you pay for. Plus, our simple one-time price model means that there are no messy monthly or yearly credit card charges to worry about. There is no where else that you can get the security that Safe Eyes provides at such an affordable price.
Did I read that right...NO SUBSCRIPTION FEE?
Yes, you did! We keep it simple with Safe Eyes. You will only be billed once for Safe Eyes, and will not have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee to keep using it.
Try Safe Eyes FREE for 15 days.
We do not want you to pay for Safe Eyes unless you are completely satisfied with it. So give it a try. We offer the first 15 days as a free trial. Once you are satisfied that Safe Eyes is right for you, you can purchase it any time during, or after, the trial period.
SEATTLE - Let's face it. There are places on the Internet you don't want your kids to visit, and I'm not just talking about porn.
There are thousands of sites that promote violence, hatred or illegal drugs.
You want a good software filter that will block the bad without limiting access to sites with useful content, such as health issues, sex education, or civil rights.
Some parental software can control how the computer is used, keeping kids from downloading music, disabling games, or setting on-line time limits.
For its June issue, Consumer Reports tested 11 popular software filtering programs and gave top honors to Safe Eyes 2005 from SafeBrowse.
Senior Project Editor Jeff Fox says Safe Eyes "offered the best combination of protection and minimum interference. It got excellent scores in features and ease of use and flexibility. It has a time manager that lets you control time and it can filter e-mail and instant messaging."
MSN users get Parental Controls (9.1) from Microsoft free as part of their service. Consumer Reports says it "provides nearly the same protection as Safe Browse, and "lets parents set multiple age levels."
The magazine says for families with young children, Parental Controls (9.0), which comes free with AOL service "offers the best pornography-blocking and time-management controls," plus the ability to customize for different ages. AOL was also best for Mac users.
Rating Computer Filtering Software
Some unreliable at blocking out offensive material
Violent material and pornography live on the Internet, which is why many parents rely on filtering software to block those sites. But how well do they really work?
The Hunts, like half of all Internet-connected families with teenagers, have special filtering software to block offensive sites. "I felt as an adult I don't really care to see those sites so I certainly don't want my children to see them," said Roseann Hunt.
Consumer Reports' Dean Gallea tested 11 software programs to see how well they block offensive sites. Some come free with a subscription to AOL or MSN. Others, like Net Nanny and Norton Internet Security cost between $35-70. The programs offer different levels of protection for various age groups. Consumer Reports checked the settings for "young teen."
"Most did a very good job at blocking pornographic Web sites, but not as good at blocking Web sites advocating things like hate, drug use, and violence," said Gallea. In fact, nine of the 11 programs didn't block a site that tells you "how to kill someone with your bare hands." Some also blocked a lot of legitimate sites like the National Institute on Drug Abuse as well as the Southern Poverty Law Center. "We did find some products that were better at striking a balance between blocking the objectionable Web sites and letting through the informational ones."
Top ratings went to a program called Safe Eyes, which you can download for $50. But no matter which filtering software you use, Consumer Reports says do what the Hunts do and keep the computer in a family area, so you can keep tabs on on-line activity.
Safe Eyes is available from safebrowse.com. However, this program does not work with Macs. So for Mac users, Consumer Reports recommends the filtering software that comes free from AOL. While it does block a lot of legitimate Web sites, Consumer Reports found it does an excellent job of blocking offensive sites.
